  1. DO I NEED A BUSINESS LICENSE?

Yes, you need a business license if you engage in any business activity within the City of Jackson.

 

  1. HOW DO I APPLY FOR A NEW BUSINESS LICENSE?

To apply for a new business license, you need to, first, click on “Sign Up” on jacksonms.viewpointcloud.com to create a profile with an email address and password (at least 8 characters with one capital letter and one number), and then type in the search box at the top “Business License,” click on the application to begin and submit.

 

  1. HOW DO I RENEW MY BUSINESS LICENSE?

To renew, you need to, first, click on “Sign up” on jacksonms.viewpointcloud.com and create a profile with an email address and password (at least 8 characters with one capital letter and one number), and then call 601- 960-1148 to connect your renewal to your profile.

 

  1. I FORGET MY PASSWORD OR MY PASSWORD IS NOT WORKING. WHAT CAN I DO TO CHANGE/UPDATE MY PASSWORD?

To change your password, click on “Log in” on jacksonms.viewpointcloud.com. At the bottom, you should click on “Don’t remember your password” and submit your email address. It will send you a link to change your password in your email.

 

  1. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET MY BUSINESS LICENSE?

The length depends on different factors, such as if you are missing any documents, the type of business, and how long it takes for responses from staff inquiries. Typically, it takes about 1 – 2 weeks for a business license to be approved.

 

  1. CAN I COME TO PICK UP MY BUSINESS LICENSE, OR WILL MY BUSINESS LICENSE BE MAILED TO ME?

No, you will receive your business license through the portal at jacksonms.viewpointcloud.com. You will receive an email notification stating that your license is ready.

 

  1. HOW MUCH DOES MY BUSINESS LICENSE COST?

Your business license cost will depend on your type of business. You will receive an email notification stating that your license is ready for payment. Within this step, you will also see the amount and an itemized billing.

 

  1. HOW CAN I PAY FOR MY BUSINESS LICENSE?

You can pay online via card and e-Check on the website, in person via cash, or mail a check.

 

  1. WHERE DO I MAIL A CHECK FOR PAYMENT?

You should mail a check to P.O. Box 22708 Jackson, MS 39225. Please reference your Business License Number (eg. BL-00000). 

 

  1. WHY DO I NEED TO UPLOAD DOCUMENTATIONS (E.G. LEASE, DEED) TO THE APPLICATION?

To verify your business and as a safety measure

 

  1. DO WE UPLOAD THE SAME INFORMATION EACH YEAR?

You will upload the same documentation only if the information changes.

 

  1. HOW WILL I BE NOTIFIED OF RENEWAL NEXT YEAR?

You will be notified via the email associated with your Open Gov (viewpointcloud) profile.

 

  1. I RECEIVED A BLUE LICENSE LAST YEAR. WHY IS MY NEW LICENSE NOT THE SAME?

The new format of the business license has changed; however, they are both your business license.

 

  1. I DON’T HAVE A COMPUTER OR ACCESS TO WI-FI, WHAT DO I DO?

Within Business Licensing (200 S. President Street), there are 2 computers available to use to create and complete your application.

 

  1. I DON’T HAVE AN EMAIL ADDRESS, WHAT DO I DO?

There are two ways: (1) create a new email account or (2) utilize your cellphone email (EX. 6015551111@txt.att.net or 6015551111@vtext.com)

 

  1. I HAVEN’T RECEIVED MY LICENSE YET, HOW CAN I KNOW WHICH STEP IT IS AT?

After logging into your application, you should click on your application. After selecting your application, there will be a highlighted step to note which step(s) that your application is. If you click on the step, then you will be able to message and communicate with the staff assigned to the step in your application.

 

  1. I NEED A PRIVILEGE LICENSE, BUT THE APPLICATION IS FOR A BUSINESS WHY?

A privilege license and a business license are the same license.
