Current Business Owners

  • The City of Jackson wants to make it easier for business owners to operate here.
  • To make things simpler, the process for renewing a license can now be done online, saving you the time of going to the Planning and Development Department downtown
  • Throughout the process, you'll be able to see what has been done and what you need to do next from any computer or mobile device
  • Business licenses must be renewed yearly, but this can be done in person, on a laptop or on any mobile device. Payments can be made online, in person or by mail.
  • If you choose to renew online, the process is simpler and doesn't require multiple trips to city offices.
  • There is a yearly fee to renew a license, but if it's been a few years since you've received an invoice and renewed, the city will work with you on paying past-due fees.
  • Going forward, business owners will receive electronic renewal notices and will be able to make payments online, in person or by mail, however the owner prefers.
  • The fee for a business license varies depending on the number of employees or the amount of inventory. There may be additional fees based on the type of business.
  • Renewal notices likely will begin going out through the new system in October. The licenses will be renewed the same month that it was purchased each year.
