City of Jackson Business License

Licensing Support
(601) 960 - 1148

All businesses must be registered with the Secretary of State’s Office, and the city of Jackson requires a license to operate, which must be renewed annually.

To be more accommodating and business friendly, Jackson has made its license process digital for new and existing companies. Business owners can now obtain or renew a license online from any device without having to make multiple trips to city offices downtown.

The process is now more efficient and transparent, making it easier to do business in Jackson. Applications are available online, and renewals will be sent electronically. Payments also can be made online.

Online platform: OpenGov

The fee for a business license depends on either the number of employees or the amount of inventory. In some cases, there are additional fees based on the type of business.

If business owners prefer to get a license in person, the system can still provide them with benefits as city employees will be able to call up their application and know where the business is in the process and can provide information on next steps.

This new system is more streamlined and easier for the city and business owners.
