Effective August 4, 2020: Citing the need for stronger action to flatten the curve of COVID-19, Mayor Lumumba has signed the Third Amended Stay Safe Jackson Executive Order which orders bars to close for inside service. All bars, nightclubs, lounges, taverns, and private clubs located in the City of Jackson shall close, except to the extent that such establishments ONLY provide take-out, pick up, delivery or drive-through services as allowed by law. Businesses found in violation will be shut down for 24-hours and must submit an Attestation of Compliance with the City of Jackson before reopening. Mayor Lumumba has also issued a Mayoral Curfew Order in the City of Jackson effective August 6th at 12 midnight - 5 am for the next five days. I represent a non-profit organization that provides housing to low and medium income families. How can I obtain a tax forfeiture list of properties?

For a comprehensive list of available properties, please contact the Office of the Secretary of State at 601.359.1350 or send a written correspondence to P.O. Box 136, Jackson, MS 39205. Additionally, you can find more information here.

If suitable property is found that is currently tax-forfeited property owned by the State, you may contact the Office of the Secretary of State or complete an online application to purchase the property. Be sure to include the exact street address and tax number parcel of the property. If you choose to send a written correspondence, be sure to include proof of your non-profit status and a development plan illustrating how and when you intend to provide housing to low and medium income families.
