Dec. 21, 2021

JACKSON, Miss– Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba has tested positive for COVID-19 on a home test. He is now awaiting results from a separate PCR test to confirm the result.

The Mayor took the home test Tuesday morning as a matter of routine. He initially wanted to notify his immediate family of the test results before sending a news release to the media.

The Mayor, who is fully vaccinated and has received a booster shot, is currently quarantining at home.

He urges residents to abide by the citywide mask mandate to limit the spread of the virus and to continue getting the vaccination and booster shot to limit the possibility of serious health effects.
