Effective August 4, 2020: Citing the need for stronger action to flatten the curve of COVID-19, Mayor Lumumba has signed the Third Amended Stay Safe Jackson Executive Order which orders bars to close for inside service. All bars, nightclubs, lounges, taverns, and private clubs located in the City of Jackson shall close, except to the extent that such establishments ONLY provide take-out, pick up, delivery or drive-through services as allowed by law. Businesses found in violation will be shut down for 24-hours and must submit an Attestation of Compliance with the City of Jackson before reopening. Mayor Lumumba has also issued a Mayoral Curfew Order in the City of Jackson effective August 6th at 12 midnight - 5 am for the next five days. Planning & Research Unit

The primary function of our Planning and Research Unit is the assimilation and distribution of information for the department. To accomplish this function, Planning processes numerous requests on a wide array of subject matters requested daily throughout the department, city, and general public. It is also this Unit’s responsibility to update/rewrite the General Orders.  The primary goal of Planning and Research is to fulfill each request as expeditiously as possible with the proper diligence directed toward each request.
