Promoting automatic savings to help people reach their savings goals

(Jackson, Ms) – As part of America Saves Week 2019, scheduled for February 25 – March 2, 2019, BankOn Jackson is spreading the savings message and urging its network to encourage people to make savings automatic as part of America Saves Week. BankOn Jackson and their supporting members will be disclosing, programs, products, and incentives offered as part of America Saves Week.

This is a collaborative effort by the City of Jackson and BankOn Jackson, a citywide initiative offering mainstream financial services, is meant to encourage more people to save and to do so, successfully with the use of community wrap around services for unbanked and underbanked residents.

“As we envision a world where equity is as common as justice, we have to acknowledge the role that economic opportunity and economic justice plays in seeing that world come into fruition. Significant portions of our population are unbanked and we have to do all that we can to present new opportunities to those individuals,” said Mayor Chokwe A. Lumumba.

BankOn Jackson is offering a number of free events as part of America Saves Week to encourage people to make savings automatic. Events include the Mississippi Community Financial Access Coalition’s (MCFAC) Financial Education Boot Camp, a free five-week financial education training course held every Monday beginning February 25, 2019 at MS Regional Housing Authority VI from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
