Attention movie lovers! The Jackson Zoo is hosting an upcoming movie day event, and it's just around the corner. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets, gather your family and friends, and enjoy an outdoor movie on our Jumbotron screen. Our food trucks will serve delicious treats to satisfy your cravings.

Capitol City Employee Hoops Basketball Tournament

The Department of Parks and Recreation Athletic Division presents Capitol City Employee Hoops Basketball Tournament sponsored by MBar Lounge. City of Jackson employees sign up for a chance to win ultimate bragging rights and a chance to donate $500.00 to a charity of your team's choice!

Flipping Out Tumbling Event

Date: April 20, 2024

Join us as boys and girls ages 5 years old and up compete and showcase their tumbling skills!

Trophies and prizes will be awarded by age division and tumbling skill set categories.

Check-in at 9:30 a.m. Competition starts at 10:30 a.m.

Location: Thalia Mara Hall (255 E. Pascagoula St. Jackson, MS 39201)

  • Door Admission: $5 CASH ONLY  (5 years old and up)
  • $15 Competition Registration Fee (must pre-register by March 29, 2024)

Jackson's Fireworks Extravaganza

Date: Wednesday, July 3, 2024

  • Location: Smith Wills Stadium (1200 Lakeland Drive, Jackson, MS 39216)
  • Gates open at 4:30 p.m.
  • Kidz Zone 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • Entertainment 7:00 p.m.- 8:45 p.m. The fireworks display will start after the last entertainment act/nightfall.
  • Admission: FREE

Food vendors will be on site. No glass containers, lawn/portable chairs, coolers allowed. Must have clear bags. The extravaganza will feature guest performances by various music artists.
