ATTENTION JACKSON RESIDENTS: Mayor Lumumba has issued a STAY AT HOME ORDER for the City of Jackson to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 Coronavirus. As a precaution, City Hall and all non-essential city government offices, including our Senior Community Centers and Early Childhood Development Centers will be closed until April 17, 2020. Public gatherings of 10 or more people are strictly prohibited. Restaurants may only operate as take-out, drive-through, or delivery service only. Garbage Collection Schedule

The City of Jackson provides residential garbage collection service twice per week to dispose of household trash generated from your property to citizens who live in single family homes, duplexes, and triplexes.

1st Collection Day Household Garbage Only
2nd Collection Day
 Household Garbage (2 Bulk Items and Bagged Leaves)

  • Furniture
  • Mattresses/ Box Spring
  • Radios
  • Televisions
  • Couch
  • Toilets

Garbage collection services begin when water/sewer services are established. To apply for these services, visit the Water Service Business Administration located at 1000 Metrocenter Drive, Jackson, MS 39209. 

Holiday Collection

Your regular collection day for trash and recyclables during the holidays will not change unless your collection day falls on or after one of five holidays.

  • New Year's Day
  • Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday
  • The Fourth of July
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

Example: If your normal collection day falls on or after one of the five holidays listed above, then your garbage will be collected on the following collection day.
