The mission of the human services component is to implement and deliver an array of social, educational and socioeconomic programs for the family unit. It also promotes independence and self-sufficiency among the elderly and provides public space for various community and neighborhood organizations to host events and meetings. This component consists of the divisions of Senior Services, Early Childhood Development, Family and Youth Division, Jobs for Jacksonians, Homeless Program, Fresh Start Program, AmeriCorps and Americans Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance and initiatives.
The mission of the cultural services component is to expand and enhance the City of Jackson Cultural Arts Program. It promotes local artists and public awareness of cultural diversity in the community. The divisions which make up this component include Jackson Municipal Art Gallery, Russell C. Davis Planetarium, Smith Robertson Museum, and Cultural Center and Thalia Mara Hall/Arts Center.
