Mayor's Welcome Statement

Welcome to Jackson, Mississippi - America's City of Grace and Benevolence!  At no other time in our history have we experienced such grace and benevolence than in the events before, during and after Hurricane Katrina.  As Mayor, I have charged my administration with focusing on five priorities for Mississippi's Capitol City.  It is our daily goal to deliver essential, efficient and effective services to citizens by prioritizing our efforts in the following areas to improve quality of life:

At the heart of our work is a commitment to diversity of ideas and people, accessibility to public services, fair and respectful treatment of citizens and City government employees, as well as maximum participation of Jackson's citizens in their government.

 

This is an exciting and productive time in Mississippi's Capital City! We have over $1.6 Billion in local, national and international economic development investment being made in our city.  With the addition of a new Capitol City Convention Center, revitalization of the historic King Edward Hotel and the rebirth of the Farish Street Entertainment District - Jackson is building BIGGER and BETTER.
