Emergency Service Division

Mission Statement

The mission of the Jackson Fire Department Emergency Service Division is to protect the lives and property of the citizens from fires, natural disasters, and hazardous material incidents. We provide emergency medical services and educational programs to the citizens for the purpose of fire prevention. Our values are diversity, respect, trust, support, professionalism, and honor. The Jackson Fire Department is made up of a group of dedicated personnel that represent diversity in the community.

The Emergency Service Division consists of approximately 285 Firefighters that are distributed between three shifts (A, B, & C) in 21 stations. Each shift works a 24-hours on duty and 48-hours off duty rotations as their schedule. ESD consists of 6 ladder trucks, 7 rescue trucks, and 15 engine trucks. There are 9 District Fire Chiefs (DC's) that are separated into 3 DC's per district, one per shift.

Additionally, ESD is actively involved in Public Relations within the community by providing smoke alarm installations, fire station tours, Fire Citizen's Academy, vital signs checks, blood drives, and a Muscular Dystrophy Association fundraiser that is held annually. The Jackson Firefighters work every day of the year to improve the quality of services that they provide to the community.
