Division Fire Chief
Michael McCelleis is a Division Chief in the Emergency Services Division. Chief McCelleis is a Jackson native and a graduate of Murrah High School I 1991. In August of 1992 Chief McCelleis joined the U. S. Army. McCelleis attended basic training in Fort Jackson, SC. and completed advance individual training at Fort Gordon, Ga. Chief McCelleis was then stationed at Ft. Huachuca, Az for the duration of his enlistment until February of 1995. Upon returning to Jackson McCelleis attended Hinds Community College and in 1996 transferred to the University of Southern Mississippi. Over twenty years after starting at USM McCelleis Graduated in 2021.
In March of 1998 Chief McCelleis joined the Jackson Fire Department. Upon completion of training McCelleis’ first duty station was station 10. Over the next 26 plus years McCelleis has risen through the ranks and is currently a Division Chief after being a Captain for over 10 years. Chief McCelleis hopes to continue to serve the community and our firefighters.
Michael is married to Nikki McCelleis, the C.E.O. of United Way of Capital Area. They have two children, Nicholas a 19-year-old junior at Alcorn State University and Malia a 15 years old sophomore at Northwest Rankin School.
