How Do I?
City Planning

The Office of City Planning is composed of the Land Use and Zoning Divisions.  The overall goal of this Office is to assure the smooth and efficient operation of these divisions through planning studies, administration of the zoning and historic preservation ordinances, enforcement of zoning and land use codes, and administration of planning grants received by the City.  The Office of City Planning works with the Director and other offices within Planning and Development to facilitate and enhance the growth and development of Jackson.

Land Use Division

Research, develop and implement public policy encompassing various disciplines which seek to order and regulate land use in an efficient and ethical way, thus preventing land-use conflicts and managing the future development of land within the City. In doing so, the Land Use Division does plans and studies for the needs of the community while safeguarding natural resources and historic heritages.  This Division also provides staff support to the Historic Preservation Commission, administers the Historic Preservation Ordinance and monitors the City's designated Historic Districts.

Zoning Division
The Zoning Division is responsible for the implementation of the official zoning ordinance, which guides orderly growth by regulating the size, height and use of buildings.  This Division provides staff support to the Jackson Planning Board and manages the Site Plan Review Committee.
