Chief of Staff

When people ask Jackie Anderson-Woods to describe herself, she doesn't hesitate to say that first and foremost, she is a wife, mother, and advocate for the positive development of all people.

But before she was a wife, mother, or advocate -- or a successful entrepreneur, political voice, or public servant -- she was the daughter of Supervisor and Commissioner Doug and Josephine Anderson. Born in Jackson, Mississippi and a product of Jackson Public Schools, Mrs. Woods had the pleasure of watching her father serves at the MS legislature for 18 years and the Hinds County Board of Supervisors for 20 years until his death in 2013. Her mother is currently elected to the Hinds County Election Commission. These experiences shaped her mindset to be a leader and a catalyst for positive change in whatever area of life she would enter.

In 1994, Mrs. Woods embarked on a journey to soar to the top at the University of Southern Mississippi where she earned her degree in English with a minor in Political Science. Upon completion of her degree, Mrs. Woods moved to Atlanta, Georgia and began working in various capacities. While in Atlanta, Mrs. Woods continued to develop her political voice and her servant’s heart as she became more involved in Georgia politics.

In 2008, Mrs. Woods became a successful entrepreneur in Atlanta when she opened Woody’s Jump N Play. Woody’s is a 9,000 square foot facility that specializes in family entertainment. In 2013, she began working in the administration of the Clayton County Board of Commissioners. However, the election of Mayor Tony Yarber presented the opportunity to bring Mrs. Wood’s wealth of knowledge and experience back to the great City of Jackson, Mississippi. Without hesitation she accepted the opportunity to come back and make positive strides for her home city.

As Chief of Staff for the Yarber administration, Mrs. Woods seeks to cultivate and maintain a spirit of excellence, sincerity, and kindness in every aspect of her duties. She intends to fully and boldly help Mayor Yarber implement the necessary measures to push Jackson, Mississippi forward.

Mrs. Jackie Anderson-Woods resides in Jackson, Mississippi and is married to Fidel Woods. They have three children: Zion, Jireh, and Josiah. Mrs. Woods is committed to making Jackson the best place for rest, recreation, and to raise our families.
