Understanding Your Utility Statement and Rates

    We think it’s a good thing to know exactly what you pay for in life, and your water bill is no exception. Like any other company, we have our own jargon which can sound confusing – cubic feet, sewer services, etc. – so please click on this link for YourUtilityBill to explain your charges in simple terms.

Disputing A Bill
Should you believe your utility and sanitation bill is incorrect, please contact the City’s Water Sewer Billing Administration within 10 days of receiving your bill, following the instructions below. Or, pay your bill and contact us about the issue before you receive your next bill.

Here's how to contact us about your billing issue:

  • Call a Customer Care Representative at 601.960.2000, Monday — Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Send an email to
  • Visit the WSBA Customer Care Center at the Metro Mall:

When you contact us via email, please be sure to provide the following information:

  • Your name
  • Account number
  • Service address
  • A telephone number where we can reach you between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • A brief summary of why you believe the current charges are incorrect, along with any materials or information that may help us resolve the issue

New Utility Rates (Effective November 1, 2013)

     Water $3.21 per 100 cubic feet inside the city limits
     Sewer $4.47 per 100 cubic feet (minimum charge for 600 cubic feet or less) inside the city limits
Water $1.76 per 100 cubic feet outside the city limits (greater than a mile)

     Garbage Collection and Recycling Services $20.80 per month
