The Office of City Planning is composed of the Land Use and Zoning Divisions.  The overall goal of this Office is to assure the smooth and efficient operation of these divisions through planning studies, administration of the zoning and historic preservation ordinances, and enforcement of zoning and land use codes, and

Land Use

Research, develop and implement public policy encompassing various disciplines which seek to order and regulate land use in an efficient and ethical way, thus preventing land-use conflicts and managing the future development of land within the City. In doing so, the Land Use Division does plans and studies for the needs of the community while safeguarding natural resources and historic heritages.

The Zoning Division is responsible for the implementation of the official zoning ordinance, which guides orderly growth by regulating the size, height and use of buildings.
