Federal Economic Stimulus

The City of Jackson ARRA Website  provides  information to the general public on funds received to date, those proposals submitted and funding awards are pending and a list of those ARRA proposals submitted and funding was denied.  Our goal is to manage ARRA funds and to have an open and transparent flow of information on how these funds improve the environment and enhance the quality of life in our community.

FUNDING TO DATE

$12,204,135.00

$ 1,789,300: U. S. Department of Energy

Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant
Funds available in the Department of Public Works to develop LED conversions for traffic signals, street and aerial lighting; mechanical upgrades and retrofit to city buildings and other facilities, expand energy management and monitoring; training for city employees on energy conservation awareness and energy efficiency interventions such as caulking windows, insulating  attics and hot water pipes, and stripping windows and doors to reduce the consumptions of energy in low-income neighborhoods.

$ 3,355,477:  U. S. Department of Transportation

   Transportation Metropolitan Planning Organization Entitlement Program
Funds available in the Department of Public Works to resurface 2.5 miles of Northside Drive from Jackson city limits to Medgar Evers Boulevard  and 2 miles of Maddox Road from Highway 18 to John R. Lynch Street.   The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) provides project management and oversight for program implementation and ARRA compliance.

$ 1,031,154: U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
   Homeless Prevention Grant
Funds available in the Department of Planning and Development to partner with
the Jackson Housing Authority to prevent homelessness by paying rent, utility  
assistance, and other housing related costs for families who have been impacted by the
economic downturn. Families who are homeless will be assisted with shelter.

$ 674,273: U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development

   Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
Funds available in the Department of Planning and Development for public          
facilities activities to address erosion and flooding along the Eubanks Creek.

$ 3,461,148: U. S. Department of Transportation/Federal Transit Administration

Section 5307 Urbanized Area Formula Funds
Funds available in the Department of Planning and Development to complete     
the construction of the JATRAN Administration and   Maintenance Facility. The                    
facility will accommodate approximately sixty (60) buses, and other activities to
include, routine repairs, HVAC repairs, preventive maintenance inspection, oil change,
fueling, bus wash, break and tire inspection, and electronic work. 
 
$ 157,284: U. S. Department of Labor

Senior Service America, Inc.
Funds were  available in the Department of Human and Cultural Services to provide
training and employment opportunities to senior Americans age 55 years and older.

$ 101,649: U. S. Department of Health and Human Services
      Congregate Meals
Funds  available in the Department of Human and Cultural Services to provide
senior services through the Central Mississippi Planning and Development District
(CMPDD) for hot meals to seven Senior Centers and two Nutrition Sites.

$ 1,633,850: U. S. Department of Justice

      Department of Justice Byrne Justice Assistance
Funds available in the Jackson Police Department (JPD) for public facility activities to renovate two buildings, the Crime Lab and the JPD Training Academy and the inter-local governmental agreement between the City of Jackson and Hind County for crime prevention equipment, vehicles and professional staff.

                        West County Line Road Intermodal Transportation Corridor.

$ 58,500,000:  U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development

                        Neighborhood Stabilization in Six Neighborhoods.

$ 8,400,000:  U. S. Department of Homeland Security

Jackson Fire Department to complete construction of six fire stations.
