A native of Clarksdale, Mississippi, Frank Bluntson earned his Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Mississippi Industrial College & Master's degree in Guidance & Counseling from Jackson State University.
He has devoted his life to educating, encouraging, and instructing youth and senior citizens in the local community. He was a youth court counselor/youth detention center director for 24 years and served as an adjunct professor of Criminal Justice at Jackson State University for 18 years.
His community service includes numerous organizations such as: NAACP, Mississippi High School Officials Association, Mississippi Professional Medical Association and the Hinds County Planning & Zoning Board. For the last 27 years, Councilman Bluntson has organized a senior citizen food drive, where he has given out over 600 bags of groceries.
Five years ago, he named his food drive the WOAD-WKXI Craig Bluntson Senior Citizens Christmas Give-A-Way, in honor of his late son. He served as a football, basketball and baseball official for 47 years on the high school and collegiate level. He currently serves as Vice President for the Jackson City Council.
Councilman Bluntson host a weekly radio show called Straight Talk on Sundays from 3-6 p.m. on 1300 AM radio.
He and his wife, Juanita, have two sons, the late Craig Bluntson and Eric Bluntson. He has one beloved grandson, Connor.
