Councilwoman LaRita Cooper-Stokes is a child of God and she gives all thanks and praises to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Councilwoman Stokes is the third person to serve the citizens of Ward Three on the Jackson City Council. Mrs. Stokes is the newest member of the Jackson City Council. She is currently serving the unexpired term of her husband, Kenneth I. Stokes, who was elected Hinds County Supervisor.
Councilwoman Stokes is an attorney with over twenty-five years of experience. She is a graduate of the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University in Houston; Jackson State University and Lanier High School. She is a member of New Hope Baptist Church. A mother and a grandmother, she is a strong advocate for the children of our community who are the future leaders of tomorrow. Also, Councilwoman Stokes believes that the vibrant senior members of the community must be respected and made a priority in public policy.
