STORM DEBRIS UPDATE: MAY 8, 2008

First Round of Debris Pick Up Targets Safety Hazards

The City of Jackson’s Solid Waste Division is reminding residents that the first round of storm debris collection is focusing on removing the storm debris from the curbs and preventing hazards.

The Solid Waste Division is focusing on reducing hazardous conditions such as:
  • Traffic hazards
  • Potential road problems
  • Snakes and other pest
  • Cleaning curbs so more debris from back yards can be brought to front of property

The City of Jackson and its designated contractors are working as fast as possible to remove storm debris. During the first round, some debris may be left during the first past.  This debris includes large pieces such as tree stumps and logs that require specialized equipment and debris that is in the back yards of homes, that must be brought, by the owner, to the front curb.
