The City of Jackson’s Public Works Department is currently working on the city’s largest-ever street resurfacing program which is important to the growth and development of the Capital City. The $26.2 million project is being partially funded through a 2009 fiscal year budget cut and will include the resurfacing of 75 miles of arterial and collector streets in each of the seven wards simultaneously. Paving contractors will be resurfacing 48 miles of streets and City of Jackson crews will be covering approximately 27 miles.The project is expected to be completed in 120 days, barring inclement weather.

2009 STREET RESURFACING UPDATE –
TERRY ROAD
City of Jackson Public Works officials announced today that crews have begun paving Terry Road from Daniel Lake Boulevard to McDowell Road. This work is expected to continue through the weekend and should be completed by Monday, September 14, 2009, weather permitting.
Motorists are strongly encouraged to use an alternate route for the duration of this project to minimize congestion and avoid delays in the area.
