Mission Statement

The Infrastructure Management Division provides efficient management of the City's streets, bridges, drainage, and traffic infrastructure.

This division is comprised of four sections:

  • The Infrastructure Management Administrative Section includes the management of all streets, bridges, drainage and traffic maintenance improvements. This section coordinates maintenance activities with street repair, traffic maintenance, bridges and drainage crews and provides the administration of the street resurfacing, mosquito abatement, street cleaning/sweeping, and the drainage channel herbicide contracts.

  • The Paved Street Section repairs potholes, street defects, and level dips; removes large debris from the traveled roadway (illegal dumping or items which have fallen from vehicles); administers the "Pothole Hotline" (601-960-POTH) where calls can be placed to report and request pothole repairs; improves road shoulders to ensure that the integrity of the road base is not undermined; resurfaces selected residential, collector, and arterial streets; and provides maintenance on various city-owned parking facilities.

  • The Bridges and Drainage Section constructs headwalls and retaining walls; cuts and removes trees from the traveled roadway, which have fallen during or after storms, as well as trees that have fallen into drainage channels; administers a Flood Prevention Program by maintaining the flow of storm water through ditches, pipes and inlets; and implements the Corrugated Pipe Replacement Program, which replaces deteriorated metal pipes and inspects, cleans, unblocks, repairs, replaces, and installs storm water inlets and pipes.

  • The Traffic Section installs and maintains regulatory and warning traffic control devices to ensure safe and efficient use of public streets/right-of-way.
