Internal Affairs Division![]() Cheryl Daughtry, Commander (601) 960-1674 Internal Affairs Stats: The Internal Affairs Division of the Jackson Police Department is responsible for conducting investigations relating to complaints and/or allegations of misconduct of a sworn or civilian employee, whether on or off-duty; violations of any policy and/or procedures; and violations of any other written directive(s) issued by the Chief of Police. Personnel assigned to the Internal Affairs Division operate and carry out their duties under the direct authority of the Chief of Police. All complaints received by the Jackson Police Department, and especially the Internal Affairs Division, shall be deemed confidential unless deemed otherwise by the Chief of Police or the Commander of Internal Affairs. The Internal Affairs Division is comprised of a Unit Commander, a Senior Detective and six investigating detectives. Where to file a complaint:Citizens wishing to file a complaint with the Internal Affairs Division may do so in writing, by phone or by visiting the Internal Affairs Office. Write: Commander, Internal Affairs Division Jackson Police Department 836 West Amite Street Jackson, MS 39203 Call: (601) 960-1331 Office Hours: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday Complaint Process:Citizens wishing to file a complaint should complete a Citizen Complaint & Injury Form. These forms are available in the Internal Affairs Office. The complaint form should be completed, dated and sworn before a duly authorized Notary Public before any investigation shall commence. Complaints should be filed within 30-days after the alleged incident. The case will then be reviewed and investigated by a detective within the Internal Affairs Division. During the course of the investigation, the complainant and any witnesses may be subjected to a taped interview and/or polygraph examination. Upon completion of the investigation, the findings will be sent to the Chief of Police. The Chief of Police will conduct a final review of the case. The citizen will then be notified in writing of the final disposition.
