The Enforcement Operations Division
is comprised of Patrol Operations and Investigations. Patrol Operations consists of (4) Police Precincts, Traffic Enforcement, and Small Animal Control. Enforcement Operations is the "backbone" of the Police Department, answering over 19,945 calls for service per year. The Investigations Units are: Auto Theft, Burglary, Cease Fire, Warrants, Forgery/Fraud, Mobile Crime Lab, Narcotics, Vice, Pawn Shops, Robbery/Homicide, Sex Crimes and Youth Services.

Precinct #1 is under the Command of Orange Young: 601-960.0001
The geographical area generally encompasses the Southern quadrant of the City. The geographic boundaries are:

North Boundary I-20
South Boundary City Limits/Byram
East Boundary Pearl River/City Limits
West Boundary City Limits

 

Precinct #2 is under the Command of Lee Vance: 601.960.0002
The geographical area generally encompasses the West/Central quadrant of the City. The geographic boundaries are:

North Boundary I.C. Railroad/Capers Avenue/ Fortification Street
South Boundary City Limits/I-20
East Boundary Pearl River/City Limits
West Boundary City Limits /Clinton

 

Precinct #3 is under the Command of Gwendolyn Nicks: 601.960.0003
The geographical area generally encompasses the Northwest quadrant of the City. The geographic boundaries are:

North Boundary City Limits
South Boundary I.C. Railroad/Capers/Avenue/Fortification Street
East Boundary I.C. railroad
West Boundary City Limits

 

Precinct #4 is under the Command of Steve Sansom:601.960.0004
The geographical area generally encompasses the Northeast quadrant of the City. The geographic boundaries are:
North Boundary County Line Road/City Limits
South Boundary Fortification Street
East Boundary Pearl River/City Limits
West Boundary I.C. Railroad

 

The Traffic Unit includes Accident Investigation, Motor Unit, Parking Enforcement, and Downtown Patrol. Traffic is under the leadership of Lieutenant Jessie Robinson and (3) Sergeants. Personnel are assigned in A&I - 2, Motor Unit - 7, Laser - 2, Downtown Patrol - 7 and Parking Enforcement - 5. A brief summary of activity for the Unit is as follows:

Small Animal Control moved to its new location at 140 Outer Circle in September 2005. This state-of-the-art facility houses 68 dogs and 25 cats. The unit consists of a Manager, Supervisor, Animal Control Officers, Shelter Attendants, and a Secretary. The unit is also under the supervision of (1) Police Lieutenant. Alcohol, Tobacco, & Firearms is under the supervision of Sergeant Anthony Moore. The unit consists of (2) Detectives. The unit works closely with the Bureau of Alcohol/Tobacco and Firearms and the US Attorney's Office. A brief summary of activity for the unit is as follows:

Forgery and Fraud is under the supervision of Sergeant Carey Parkinson. The Unit consists of (4) Detectives and one Secretary. Unit duties include the investigation of embezzlements, check forgery, credit card fraud, false pretense and identity theft. A brief summary of activity for the unit is as follows:

Mobile Crime Scene Unit is under the supervision of Sergeant Michael Childress. The unit consists of (4) Investigators responsible identification, preservation, collection, and documentation of physical evidence. A brief summary of activity for the unit is as follows:

Narcotics is under the supervision of Sergeant William Gladney. The unit consists of (10) Detectives that includes HIDTA and DEA Task Force Members. The unit receives all patrol narcotics arrests for review and classifications. The unit is responsible for the investigation of illegal drug trafficking, use and manufacturing of illegal substances. The Unit now uses "Leads On-Line", an internet program that tracks all merchandise pawned in the City of Jackson and other local jurisdictions as well as other Southern States. Special Victims Unit is under the supervision of Sergeant Holly Haywood. The unit consists of (1) Secretary and (5) Detectives conducting investigations of Sexual Assault, Child Abuse, Child Neglect, and Violations of the Vulnerable Adult Act. Youth Division is under the supervision of Sergeant Perry Martin. The unit consists of (1) Secretary and (5) Detectives. All criminal cases, misdemeanor, and felony offenses relating to juvenile suspects along with Missing Person cases are investigated by the Youth Division.
