Hiring Process
The City of Jackson is an Equal Opportunity Employer currently seeking male and female applicants interested in being considered as candidates for Police Recruit with the Jackson Police Department.
The following basic qualifications for the position of Police Recruit with the City of Jackson must be met:
U. S. Citizenship Twenty-one (21) years of age High School Graduate or Equivalent (GED) Must possess a valid driver's license Good moral character Have no felony arrests or serious criminal background
Reside within Hinds County or the City of Jackson at the time of employment or move within the County or City within six (6) months after beginning employment.
Other information important for you to know is that the City of Jackson's police officer selection procedures will include but are not limited to the following:
(1) Written Test (2) Psychological Test(s) (3) Polygraph Examination (4) Background Investigation (including fitness test) (5) Panel/Individual Interviews (6) Criminal Records Check (7) Drug Screen (8) Medical Examination (9) Physical Agility Test
Salary
Police Recruit - $23,750.00 (Annually), after successful completion of a 14-week training program. $28,887.00 (annually), after one year of employment.
EXPERIENCED POLICE OFFICERS
Experienced police officers with Mississippi minimum standards certification are encouraged to apply. Experienced police officers, after fulfilling the above requirements, will not be required to retake the minimum standards training.
