Smith-Wills has been home to professional baseball for over 25 years. Most recently, the Central League Jackson Senators made Jackson their home in 2002. Since their arrival, the Senators have not only provided some great baseball but have garnered legions of fans from the Jackson metro area and beyond by offering scores of activities for the people of the community.

In the past, the stadium has been used for a wide variety of community events such as concerts, high school and college baseball, championship baseball tournaments, baseball clinics, and other outdoor events. The stadium has offered events for all citizens of Jackson from a Camaro Car Show to the Mayor's Trophy game between the University of Mississippi and Mississippi State University. The stadium has also played host to several concert acts from the entire music spectrum such as southern rock 'n' roll legends Lynyrd Skynyrd and hip hop star Mystikal.
