Mayor's Youth Initiative and Safe Neighborhoods
Serves as liaison between youth and the City, keeping government informed of the needs of youth while keeping youth informed of city government.
There are four primary focuses concerning the Mayor's Youth Initiative:
MAYOR'S YOUTH COUNCIL
The Mayor's Youth Council was created to serve as liaison between the youth and the City of Jackson. Keeping city government informed about the needs of youth and keeping youth informed about the actions of city government will be among its primary goals. Members of the Council were selected from area high schools, both public and private.
MAYOR'S ENTREPRENEURIAL PROGRAM
The Mayor's Entrepreneurial Program is designed to offer at-risk youth between the ages of 10 and 17 the opportunity to learn about entrepreneurship. They will also be involved in life skills training, community service, personal mentoring, and money management.
MAYOR'S SAFE NEIGHBORHOODS PROGRAM
MAYOR'S YOUTH SUMMER EMPLOYMENT PORGRAM
The Mayor's Summer Employment Program is open to youth age 16 and above interested in learning a skill or having a rewarding and enriching summer experience.
