The Jackson Fire Department has a unique group of personnel in the Bureau of Investigations. The duties of this 6 member team are; Fire/Arson Investigations, Fire Death Investigations, Internal Affairs, Pre-Employment Background Investigations, Municipal & County, Courtroom Testimonies, and Depositions.

All 6 members have served a minimum of 2 years as a firefighter. All 6 members are State Certified Fire Investigators through the State Fire Academy in Pearl, MS. All 5 members are sworn police officers. Additional training includes; The Jackson Police Academy, State Fire Academy, Mississippi Fire Investigators Semi-annual Seminars, The National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland, The A.T.F. Fire Investigation Academy in Glencoe, Georgia. At least one or more of our Investigators has expertise in the following; Certified Fire Investigators through the International Association of Arson Investigators, A. T. F. K-9 dog Handler, Bomb & Explosive Device Technique, and State Licensed Polygraph Examiner.
