City of Jackson Encouraging Residents to Sign Up for CodeRED

coderedgovernment_banner.jpg

The City of Jackson is urging residents to sign up for CodeRED, a free emergency notification system that simply requires a phone number or email address to deliver alerts.

The CodeRED system provides City of Jackson officials the ability to quickly deliver messages to targeted areas or the entire city. CodeRED is a critical tool in time of crisis. It is recommended that all businesses register, as well as all individuals who have unlisted phone numbers, who have changed their phone number or address within the past year, and those who use a cellular phone or as their primary number.

To sign up, visit www.jacksonms.gov and click on CodeRED on the homepage. Those without Internet access may call the Mayor’s Action Line at 601-960-1111 and a customer representative will assist in the sign up.

CodeRED Weather Warning is an opt-in only weather warning product that taps into the National Weather Service’s Storm Based Warnings. CodeRED Weather Warning automatically alerts affected citizens in the path of severe weather just moments after a warning has been issued. Additionally, the City of Jackson uses CodeRED to alert citizens about boil water notices, evacuations and to issue crisis communication.
