City of Jackson Moves Forward on Key One Percent Tax Projects


More 1 Percent Tax projects will soon get underway after Mayor Tony T. Yarber and the Jackson City Council on Tuesday, May 31, approved a number of measures related to the Infrastructure Master Plan.

Approved contracts were related to the following projects:
• Eubanks Creek -- The proposed improvements for this project include widening the channel bed and replacing the existing bridge with a pre-fabricated concrete bridge that is bike and pedestrian friendly. The distance of the project is 2000 feet.
• Lawrence Road Waterline Improvement -- The proposed project will replace the 6Ó water lines associated in Ward 3 with an 8Ó line for 3,500 estimated linear feet bringing the water line into compliance with fire protection requirements. Fire protection, mill and overlay, will be included in this project.
• Mayes Street Bridge Replacement – The proposed project will repair the bridge located on Mayes Street.
• Robinson Road Bridge Replacement -- The proposed project will repair the bridge located on Robinson Road above Caney Creek. Major activity includes replacing the bridge with a structure that meets or exceeds substandard load carrying capacity.
