Water Meter Installations In Progress

water.jpg

The City of Jackson has initiated a comprehensive water meter replacement program that will replace approximately 65,000 existing meters with an automatic meter reading (AMR) system. The automated meters will transmit meter readings to radio receivers or a mobile device. This will eliminate the need for workers to directly view the meter, thus improving efficiency.

The public should be aware that work crews with Siemens and M.A.C. & Associates will be driving vehicles with the logo “M.A.C. City Contractor” and workers will be wearing neon yellow or neon orange shirts with the logo “M.A.C. METER TEAM”. A worker will knock on each resident’s door to notify the resident immediately prior to installation. No one needs to be home. There will be a temporary service interruption while the meter is being replaced – typically about 15 to 30 minutes.
